"Before Lynn worked her magic, I had an awkward and ugly "space" that basically had a stove, sink, refrigerator, and some cabinets. In fact, calling it a kitchen would have been an overstatement. When Lynn's work was complete, the space was transformed into a gorgeous and fully-operational kitchen.
Lynn is extremely hands on, which put my mind at ease while I was at work.
I’ve received many compliments on my new kitchen and it has really added value to my place."
BACHELOR PAD
Hoboken, NJ
A successful, single professional, my client owned a two bedroom condo in a converted commercial space. The apartment had lots of potential, but the existing kitchen was a 'builder's special' consisting of low-quality, haphazardly-installed cabinets and inexpensive materials.
Lacking adequate storage, proper task lighting and sufficient work surfaces,
my client asked me for a kitchen that was more functional and most importantly,
designed so that it would compliment the living area.
We gutted the kitchen leaving the walls in place so as not to disturb other areas of the apartment. In order to link the living and kitchen areas, I designed a sleek peninsula with a furniture-like quality. This multi-functional element incorporates an eat-at counter and work surface, as well as concealing a side-by-side refrigerator and freezer below. By eliminating the range, the kitchen can now accomodate
a cooktop with storage drawers below and a combination microwave/convection oven/hood above - elements which are sufficient for my client's cooking needs.
The glass mosaic backsplash ties the earthy color scheme together,
with jewel-like tones of iridescent caramel, black onyx and textured, white gold. Frosted glass adds dimension to the wall cabinets and a recessed niche with adjustable, glass shelves offers a clever storage solution.
Low-voltage light fixtures provide excellent task lighting and with the flip of a switch, the entire mood is transformed from a well-lit work area,
to a cozy retreat.
Whether cooking or entertaining, this boutique-sized kitchen is now worthy of my client's investment.
